I can remember the days when I spent $3/minute to call my aunt in Britain. Now I call her for free on Skype. • They (e.g. identity thieves, telemarketers etc.) will call you using an unlisted cell number (or a willingly unlisted land number). The caller ID goes “unknown caller ” or “unlisted number” and you’re stuck in two minds whether to answer the call or not

Even though mobile numbers are unpublished and ‘hidden’ from public access (for your own protection, as mentioned before ), the law enforcement authorities store them in electronic databases to be used in emergencies. There are many companies authorized to access the databases (for a fee) and you and I can do a reverse phone lookup to trace someone’s cell phone number via these third party services.

However, some of the big players in the industry offer the best rates which are extremely reasonable and even gives you a free background check that let’s you decide the kind of person that may be harassing you with annoying telephone calls.
